The Department of Law, Police Science, and Criminal Justice Administration (LPS) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2027.

The successful candidates will teach security related courses in our undergraduate Security major and minors in Homeland Security and Cyber Crime, from entry level up to capstone seminars. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the goals of the college through their teaching, leadership, community service, research, and/or lived experiences.

The prospective candidates should have expertise and publications with a focus on various aspects of private security. Course load is six (6) classes per year. Significant course release is available for newly appointed faculty. Teaching, departmental and college service, and an active research and publishing agenda are expected.

The Department of Law, Police Science, and Criminal Justice Administration is a Flagship Department of John Jay College of Criminal Justice. We are an interdisciplinary department whose faculty specialize in criminal justice broadly defined. This includes the fields of criminal justice, international criminal justice, policing, law, courts, and corrections. LPS is home to the Criminal Justice Bachelor of Science (CJBS) major which enrolls more than 3,000 undergraduate students, the Police Science Major, Security Management Major and Masters, and on a rotating basis, the International Criminal Justice Major.
