About Carousel of LanguagesFounded in New York City in 2000, Carousel of Languages specializes in introducing children to world languages during their most formative years. Our proprietary Carousel of Languages Teaching System® combines conversation, thematic vocabulary, music, movement, storytelling, games, visual materials, and hands-on activities to create a joyful and immersive learning experience.
Position OverviewThe Spanish teacher will provide dynamic, developmentally appropriate instruction for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.
Teachers will follow the Carousel of Languages Teaching System® curriculum and receive guidance and training in its methodology, lesson structure, and materials.
The ideal candidate understands how to engage young learners through play, repetition, movement, music, and meaningful interaction. Lessons may be offered online or in families’ homes throughout New York City. In-person learning pods may include small groups of children hosted in a private residence.
Responsibilities- Teach private and small-group Spanish lessons online and in person.
- Use Carousel’s designated thematic units, vocabulary, songs, games, illustrations, worksheets, and supporting materials.
- Incorporate conversation, storytelling, music, movement, games, and hands-on activities into each lesson.
- Provide families with brief updates regarding their child’s participation and progress.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and respect for each family’s home.
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
- Experience teaching Spanish to young children.
- Background in early childhood education, language education, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to lead interactive lessons both online and in person.
- Willingness to learn and consistently follow Carousel’s proprietary curriculum and teaching methodology.
- Willingness and ability to travel to families’ homes in New York City.
- Professional references and successful completion of a background check required.
This is a part-time position with flexible weekday and weekend opportunities. Availability during after-school hours is especially important. Scheduling will depend on family enrollment and teacher availability.
CompensationCompetitive hourly compensation based on experience, lesson format, location, and group size.
