MTA Construction & Development (C&D) is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of all capital construction projects across the MTA region. Through centralized oversight and management of the MTA’s $64 billion Capital Program, C&D ensures the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the region’s vast transportation network. As part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the largest transportation network in North America, C&D plays a key role in modernizing and expanding services that support 15.3 million residents across New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut.

This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

The Scheduler Level 1 is an entry-level project scheduling position. Responsible for providing scheduling support including preparing construction durations, phasing plans, monitoring contractor schedule updates, and recommending mitigation to delays.

• Assists a Senior Scheduler by providing project-level scheduling support to the project team:
• Develop project construction duration. Prepare project phasing plans and participate in project risk assessment and constructability reviews
• Study, review, analyze and present schedule related project specific issues for resolution.
• Manage a variety of scheduling and planning functions encompassing conceptual schedules, options analysis, baselines, progress measurement, schedule analysis at the project level and across the portfolio to identify trends, opportunities, and risks using Primavera P6 software.
• Participate in the monthly job progress meetings, project schedule updates to update the status of the project. Resolve any discrepancies or disagreements in the status of work activities and their representation in schedule. Recommend mitigation to delays.
• Evaluate and analyze extensions of time, change orders and claims.
• Determine impacts and prepare necessary schedule frag nets, chronology of events, charts, flow diagrams, comparison reports, presentations, and narratives. Work with Project teams to take appropriate corrective actions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
• Must have a minimum of seven (5) years of related experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
• Must possess excellent team building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, People Soft, Oracle, etc.), and strong business administrative skills (i.e. presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).
