About the RoleJob Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and licensed Electrical Design Engineer to lead our electrical engineering department. This role involves overseeing the design and development of electrical systems across a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code), along with a proven track record in both technical design and team leadership.
- Lead the electrical design team in planning, designing, and reviewing power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.
- Oversee quality control and technical accuracy across all phases of project development.
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and seal engineering drawings as required.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the department.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Active and valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical system design, including fire alarm systems.
- Deep knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 and their application in real-world projects.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and project delivery.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License Required – Must hold a current and valid PE license in electrical engineering, with experience leading design teams or departments.
- Electrical Design Expertise – Proven experience in the design of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional projects, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) – Strong understanding and practical application of NFPA 70 standards in electrical system design and compliance.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) – Working knowledge of fire alarm system design and compliance requirements according to NFPA 72.
- Leadership Experience – Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, manage project timelines, and ensure quality and code compliance in electrical design deliverables.
