Our client, a well-established, full-service multi-disciplinary civil engineering and consulting firm serving New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager to join its dynamic Traffic and Transportation team in the New York City Metropolitan area.

In this role you will function as a secondary team lead within the traffic engineering group, with a pathway toward greater leadership, client-facing responsibility, and long-term advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Traffic Impact Studies, Parking Studies, Highway/Intersection Capacity Analyses, and related traffic operations evaluations
  • Design traffic signal systems, roadway improvement plans, Maintenance and Traffic Control (MOT) plans, and Traffic Signal Timing Directives in accordance with applicable county and state standards and regulations
  • Train, mentor, and oversee entry-level to mid-level engineers, designers, and analysts to ensure technical excellence and high-quality deliverables
  • Manage traffic engineering projects, including scope development, scheduling, coordination, budgeting, and client communication
  • Prepare comprehensive submissions, reports, and applications for municipal, county, and state jurisdictional review
  • Attend and actively participate in internal and external project meetings, acting as the technical expert, especially in public meetings and hearings.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, and agency staff at local, regional, and state levels through strong written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of traffic and analysis experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with Synchro/Sim Traffic, Highway Capacity Manual/Software AutoCAD or Micro Station, zoning, and site plan permitting process
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards a license in New Jersey and/or New York
  • Knowledge of NJDOT Access Management Code and experience preparing access permit applications
  • Knowledge of NJDOT traffic signal design standards and experience in the design of traffic signal systems
