Field Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus in piping systems to join our growing engineering team. This role involves developing and updating 3D piping models and 2D isometric fabrication drawings for a range of industrial mechanical projects. You’ll play a vital part in project execution by supporting both office and field operations
, maintaining as-built documentation, and ensuring technical accuracy from design through installation.

• Develop and revise 3D mechanical piping models using advanced CAD software
• Produce precise 2D isometric fabrication drawings for field installation
• Interpret P&IDs and mechanical piping plans to guide design
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and client specifications
• Participate in design reviews to optimize constructability and efficiency
• Perform as-built documentation of mechanical piping systems
• Track and update project files and design changes throughout the lifecycle
• Generate installation drawings and technical specifications
• Record field modifications and finalize documentation for project closeout
• Prepare pressure test reports and certification records
• Assist project management and procurement with technical material specifications
• Respond to RFIs and provide technical support to field teams
• Collaborate with site Superintendents to ensure successful field implementation
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project deadlines

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field
• 2–5 years’ experience in piping design or mechanical drafting (industrial projects preferred)
• Proficiency with 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Solid Works, or similar)
• Strong understanding of piping systems, fabrication drawings, and P&IDs
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
