Overview

Job Description This Opportunity: WSP is currently initiating a search for a Resident Engineer for our New York City office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable in supervision, able to coordinate the work of Construction Services staff.
  • Manage, coordinate, and supervise projects in accordance with contract documents, plans, Federal, State, and local specifications.
  • Verify and review project documentation for acceptance including pay applications, change orders, submittals, shop drawings, cost reduction proposals, traffic control modifications, and others.
  • Supervise, develop and train construction inspectors, laboratory technicians and other construction support staff assigned to a project.
  • Responsible for directing, monitoring, assigning, and evaluating the work of a project and assigned staff.
  • Supervise and conduct the inspection and review of work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor quality control and quality assurance material field testing for concrete, steel, asphalt and soils as applicable.
  • Responsible for field measurements of acceptable work and compiling quantity reports for payment of quantities and changes in the work.
  • Review inspector daily reports in accordance with the project's requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex construction management projects or programs.
  • Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently make decisions on significant construction engineering problems.
  • Manage technical field staff.
  • Responsible for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
  • Supervise field inspection and field office personnel.
  • Manage sub-consultants.
  • Represent projects at meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.).
  • Minimum of 12 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer, Project Engineer or related roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid, current New York Driver's license.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Engineer Skills.
  • A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and material.
  • Bridge and highway construction inspection experience.
  • New York experience preferred (NYSDOT projects).
  • Ability to read and completely understand contract documents is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Expected Salary: $130,300 - $226,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
