Project Engineer, Structural Engineer

G&E Partners are partnered with a leading heavy civil contractor seeking a Project Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across New York. The contractor delivers complex public works including bridges, transportation structures, marine construction, and other large-scale civil projects valued up to $500M. In this role, you will work closely with project management, field supervision, designers, and specialty subcontractors to ensure structural components are constructed in accordance with contract documents, schedule, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with coordination of structural work from design through construction
• Review contract drawings, structural plans, and specifications for constructability and compliance
• Coordinate with design engineers, detailers, fabricators, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, and engineering documentation
• Support field teams with structural installation, sequencing, and field-related technical questions
• Track quantities of structural work in place and understand associated cost impacts
• Assist in developing work plans and means & methods for structural construction activities
• Participate in project safety initiatives and quality control processes
• Maintain accurate as-built documentation related to structural work
• Support schedule updates and coordination of structural activities with overall project milestones

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience on heavy civil or infrastructure projects
• Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, bridge structures, highways, or similar systems
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and contract specifications
• Experience coordinating with fabricators, specialty subcontractors, and field crews
• Understanding of structural construction methods and sequencing
• Working knowledge of AISC, ACI, and applicable infrastructure construction standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• PE license preferred but not required
