We are partnering with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking a Senior Project Manager or Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in the New York metro area.
This is a senior-facing role with a strong mix of technical leadership, project management, and client interaction, supporting complex land development, infrastructure, and construction projects. The position offers exposure to high-profile work, collaboration with experienced technical leaders, and a clear path for continued career growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage geotechnical projects from proposal through delivery, including scope, budget, and schedule control
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, specifications, construction plans, and recommendations
- Design foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, and other geotechnical elements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project staff
- Support excavation design and advanced analyses (e.g., finite element modeling)
- Coordinate and oversee subsurface investigations and construction observations
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and budget expectations
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong background in geotechnical investigations, reporting, and construction inspection
- Hands-on experience with earthwork, pile foundations (driven/drilled), load testing, retaining walls, ground improvement, and excavation support systems
- Familiarity with geotechnical software such as gINT, PLAXIS, LPILE, SLIDE/SLOPE-W, GRLWEAP, MSEW, and SHAKE (or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead projects independently while collaborating within a team environment
- Willingness to perform occasional field work and attend client or job site meetings
