The OpportunityOur client is a well-established MEP engineering firm supporting complex, high-profile projects across New York City
. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong MEP experience to support the design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, institutional, and infrastructure projects.
This is a hybrid role offering exposure to fast-paced urban projects
, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and long-term career growth within a respected engineering organization.
- Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
- Develop construction documents and 3D models using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, short-circuit and coordination studies
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NYC Electrical Code, NFPA, and energy codes (NYCECC)
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams
- Support construction administration:
submittals, RFIs, site visits, and field coordination - Participate in constructability reviews, value engineering, and phased/fast-track design
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and system turnover
- Collaborate with project managers and internal stakeholders to deliver efficient, code-compliant solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in an MEP consulting or design-build environment
- Strong working knowledge of NYC electrical codes and urban construction requirements
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD (required)
- Experience with electrical calculations and analysis tools (SKM Power Tools, AGI
32, or similar preferred) - Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with internal teams and clients
- EIT certification required;
PE license preferred - Experience with high-rise, healthcare, mission-critical, lab, or institutional projects
- Background supporting retrofits, tenant fit-outs, or complex renovations
- Familiarity with fast-track or phased construction environments
- Hybrid work environment in NYC
