A Senior Estimator plays a critical role in the growth and success of a construction firm. This position is responsible for developing accurate, detailed cost estimates for complex construction projects and supporting pursuits from early concept through buyout. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as lead estimator on complex projects from pursuit through buyout.
- Prepare detailed conceptual budgets during preconstruction, including concept design, schematic design, and design development phases.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across all trades.
- Lead internal and client facing estimate reviews, clearly communicating scope, assumptions, risks, and pricing strategy.
- Participate in value engineering and cost optimization exercises.
- Provide constructability, phasing, and logistics input during preconstruction.
- Manage the full bid process for CM and GC projects, including bid solicitation, scope development, and proposal review.
- Review, analyze, and level subcontractor bids for scope, pricing, materials, insurance, wages, and compliance.
- Identify and resolve scope gaps, overlaps, exclusions, and risk items.
- Communicate directly with subcontractors to clarify scope and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships.
- Attend client meetings to address pricing questions and ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, owners, and subcontractors.
- Interface with operations teams to align deliverables and procurement schedules.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience estimating ground up and large scale renovation projects, including residential, hospitality, and mixed use work.
- Strong understanding of GMP style estimating and bid leveling processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with value engineering and cost optimization.
- Strong knowledge of local subcontractor markets, pricing trends, and union and non union environments preferred.
Annual salary range of $170,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Full benefits package
