Senior Electrical Engineer

MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our New York office and work on world class design projects with a leading MEP design firm in the architectural engineering consulting industry.

We are looking for a technically proficient and seasoned engineer with experience delivering complex projects.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, high performance, innovative, and iconic buildings.

• Conceptualize electrical systems and communicate design options to clients and other stakeholders.
• Develop high quality construction documents and specifications.
• Prepare detailed power one-line diagrams, grounding diagrams, fire alarm system layouts, lighting control systems, emergency power systems design
• Perform engineering calculations for building load analysis, emergency power systems, voltage drop, feeder sizing, and lighting power density.
• Prepare building due diligence and assessment reports to describe existing systems and electrical design options.
• Participate with the MEP team in construction administration activities including on-site field observation, punch list reports, contractor coordination, RFI’s, and cost estimate review.
• Provide mentorship, training, and development for junior staff.
• Develop client relationships through successful coordination and demonstration of excellence on project work

• Experience working on a variety of building types through all phases of a project from schematic design through construction administration.
• Excellent communications skills to enable successful in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects and other consultants.
• Desire for project management roles where you can lead and manage MEP project teams successfully.
• Excellent written skills in the form of engineering reports and technical analysis.
• Effective knowledge of the National Electrical Code, California Building Code, and NFPA Codes.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit.
• Construction administration experience including review of contractor submittals, field observation, contractor field coordination, and issuance of punch list reports
• Engineering calculations (load calculations, short circuit calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop, Title 24 compliance forms)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering
• 6-10 years of experience in the MEP buildings industry
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
