We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across capital projects, major maintenance initiatives, and day-to-day mechanical reliability in a sophisticated manufacturing operation. This is a hands‑on leadership position for someone who understands that uptime, safety, and disciplined execution are not optional; they are expected.
The Impact You Will MakeThis role sits at the center of engineering execution and operational performance.
You will:- Lead capital projects from early concept through commissioning, including scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, contractor oversight, and final closeout
- Direct major shutdowns, rebuilds, and equipment installations
- Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems, including rotating equipment
, gearboxes, bearings, drives, couplings, piping, and pressure vessels - Oversee optical and laser alignment activities and maintain detailed documentation
- Drive root cause analysis and implement reliability improvements
- Develop engineering specifications, drawings, and bid packages
- Manage Cap Ex and major maintenance budgets with clear forecasting and variance reporting
- Partner closely with maintenance and reliability teams to elevate preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Ensure full compliance with ASME standards, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations
This is an execution‑focused role where your leadership will directly influence plant reliability and long‑term performance.
What You Bring to the TableYou combine technical depth with steady leadership in high‑pressure environments.
You likely have:- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8 to 12+ years of progressive experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated success leading capital projects and major equipment upgrades
- Strong hands‑on experience with rotating equipment troubleshooting, alignment, and reliability improvement
- Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII and applicable mechanical codes
- Experience managing capital budgets and long‑range equipment planning
- Professional Engineer license or progress toward licensure preferred
- Prior experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, or supervising contractors
✨Experience in paper manufacturing or similarly complex process industries is strongly preferred.
The Work EnvironmentThis is an on‑site engineering leadership role within an active manufacturing facility.
Expect to:- Participate in an on‑call rotation as required
- Support outages, shutdowns, and critical maintenance events

- Engage directly with operations, maintenance, contractors, and leadership
