Engineering Specifications Specialist to drive product specifications with mechanical engineering and consulting firms.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical HVAC background, excellent relationship-building skills, and deep familiarity with air distribution and HVAC system design. This role is critical to positioning AWACP’s product lines asbasis-of-designon major commercial, institutional, healthcare, and high-profile projects throughout our territory.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical resource to consulting engineers, providing design assistance, product application guidance, and engineering support across AWACP’s core product portfolio.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with mechanical engineers, HVAC consultants, and design firms.
• Proactively promote and get AWACP product lines specified as basis-of-design on active and upcoming projects.
• Provide technical and engineering support during system design, including product selection, sizing, and application guidance.
• Conduct product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and technical training sessions for engineering firms.
• Review project plans and mechanical specifications to identify specification opportunities and influence equipment selection.
• Prepare and distribute technical submittals, performance data, BIM/Revit files, and specification language.
• Support and promote air distribution, terminal units, and HVAC system components per AWACP line card.
• Track project activity from design through bid and award to ensure specified products convert to booked sales.
• Collaborate with internal sales, project management, and manufacturer partners to support project execution.
• Maintain CRM activity and report on specification wins, project pipeline, and engineering firm engagement.
• Stay current on HVAC codes, ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and industry trends affecting system design and equipment selection

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, technical sales, or a manufacturer’s representative role.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, air distribution, and mechanical design principles.
• Demonstrated experience working with consulting engineers and navigating the specification process.
• Familiarity with products such as:
• Diffusers, grilles, and registers
• Terminal Units (single-duct and fan-powered)
• DOAS units and ventilation equipment
• Fan Coil Units
• Dampers and airflow control devices
• Linear diffusers and Architectural air distribution
• VFDs and HVAC controls components
• Electric Heat
• Acoustical Silencers
• Induction Units
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical specifications.
• Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently in the field.
