Brooklyn, NY — Pay: $45.00 - $53.00 per hour
Job SummaryThe Associate Project Manager II supports capital projects throughout all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-design through closeout, ensuring compliance with New York State (NYS) Fire and Building Codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Working under supervision, the specialist reviews project drawings, participates in design review meetings, and conducts construction and maintenance inspections to verify compliance with regulatory and contract requirements.
The role requires knowledge of building materials, safety standards, and attention to detail in documenting findings.
- Review project drawings, narratives, and design documentation to ensure compliance with NYS Fire and Building Codes and ADA regulations
- Draft Master Plans, Scopes of Work, and design phase documents, providing written comments on code compliance
- Participate in design review meetings to ensure ADA requirements are fully integrated into project designs
- Perform construction acceptance and maintenance inspections at stations and facilities undergoing rehabilitation
- Document findings and ensure adherence to State Fire and Building Codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and contract documents
- Apply knowledge of building materials, energy conservation, and site inspection practices in project evaluations
- Maintain safety compliance while working on or near wayside areas, including use of OSHA-approved practices and personal protective equipment
- Complete track safety training as required for NYC Transit, Metro-North Railroad, or Long Island Railroad operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration with 2 years of relevant experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in code enforcement, accessible design, plan review, fire department operations, energy conservation, or site inspections in a supervisory or responsible capacity
- OSHA 30-hour certification (required prior to performing work on or near wayside areas)
- Demonstrated knowledge of building materials and construction practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Successful completion of track safety training for NYC Transit, Metro-North Railroad, or Long Island Railroad, as applicable
- Completion of New York State (NYS) Code Enforcement Official Certification before beginning work
- Ability to provide and use personal safety boots meeting applicable standards
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration)
Work ExperienceMinimum of 2 years’ experience in code enforcement, accessible design, plan review, fire operations, energy conservation, or site inspections, preferably with supervisory experience
