The Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Developer Support Team is seeking an experienced engineer to help evolve and secure the containerized platforms that power software delivery across one of the nation's most critical engineering missions. If you're a senior technologist who loves building scalable platforms, thrives in Kubernetes and Open Shift environments, and wants to foster adoption of Dev Sec Ops practices, this is a role where your expertise will truly matter.
On this team, you'll shape the technical foundation that NNL's application teams rely on to design, develop, deploy, and secure software used across the naval nuclear enterprise. Your decisions will influence developer experience and security posture for years to come.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Working with a team to maintain Open Shift clusters on premises and in the cloud
* Designing and extending CI/CD pipelines that embody Dev Sec Ops best practices, from automated testing to continuous compliance
* Lead modernization of legacy services and applications into secure containerized patterns
* Understand and implement cybersecurity controls and requirements for various platforms and applications
* Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, and contribute to platform roadmaps and strategy
or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Preferred Skills
* Development experience with Python and other software languages
* Experience and ability to mentor others on maintaining Open Shift Kubernetes clusters, including installation, troubleshooting, upgrades, security operations and performance tuning.
* Expertise designing and implementing Dev Sec Ops pipelines and tooling (Git Lab CI, Tekton, Argo CD, Jenkins, Github Actions, or similar)
* Experience with containerization technologies (such as Docker/Podman), and orchestration patterns
* Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform)
* Experience deploying infrastructure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
* Experience using AI tools for software development assistance
