Senior Civil Engineer – Remote (NYS) or Buffalo, Ithaca, Albany or NYC office

Azar Design Co is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience to work on a diverse portfolio of public and private projects, including parks and green space, transportation, campuses & universities, and stormwater & utility infrastructure.

Candidates will play a role in all phases of the projects from design concepts through construction administration.

Azar Design Co is a multidisciplinary design firm, and this individual will be partnering with architects, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors and support staff on projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee design work for civil engineering projects that may involve paving and roadway design, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, utility design (sanitary sewer and water), site layout, and erosion & sediment control.
• Duties may include design and oversight of conceptual layouts and construction drawings as well as specifications, design calculations, compiling reports, quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, preparation of SWPPPs and stormwater calculations, and other associated project deliverables.
• Complete quality work within budgets and timelines.
  
  Collaborate with project managers and senior staff on project status, schedules, and design and construction issues.
• Coordinate, delegate, and review work of junior designers.
  
  Mentor junior design staff.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other governmental agencies, contractors, and clients.
  
  Coordinate with other consultants and local and state agencies.
• Conduct/coordinate construction administration and periodic site visits to monitor quality and work progress.
• Attend meetings with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Stormwater & utility design experience preferred, including design of stormwater management practices, conveyance systems, SWPPPs, and water/sewer design.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Landscape Architecture
• 10+ years of relevant civil engineering work experience
• NYS PE or EIT preferred
• Technical expertise:
  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Micro Station.
  
  Experience with Hydro
  
  CAD or other stormwater modeling software preferred.
• Teamwork and communication:
  Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Well-versed in construction methods and construction administration
• Familiarity with local permitting agencies and jurisdictions
