Position
Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer – New York City, NY (Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer in WSP’s Properties & Buildings Team)
Responsibilities- Work within multi‑discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
- Coordinate design activities with other multi‑discipline project team members
- Design electric distribution systems
- Design fire alarm systems
- Design lighting and lighting control systems
- Schedule and select electrical components and equipment
- Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations
- Construction administration
- Manage design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects from inception to completion
- Attend client and stakeholder meetings; interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors and clients in a professional manner
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers
- Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of post‑education experience designing capital projects in power generation, transmission and distribution for utility, industrial or commercial scale
- Engineer license required (preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical infrastructure design
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, energy codes, regulations, compliance practices and record‑keeping requirements
- Interest in innovative design, renewable energies and sustainable high‑performing buildings
- Strong technical computation and calculation skills involving electrical engineering principles, plans, specifications and regulations
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to work flexible schedules as required by project demands
- Occasional travel may be required
- Experience with new construction and high‑rise building design (mixed‑use, residential and office)
- PE license or LEED AP certification
- Knowledge of AGI
32 and SKM - 40‑hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired

CompensationExpected salary (all locations): $92,800 – $165,440. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less based on experience, education and location.
