Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineering

Position

Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer – New York City, NY (Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer in WSP’s Properties & Buildings Team)

• Work within multi‑discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
• Coordinate design activities with other multi‑discipline project team members
• Design electric distribution systems
• Design fire alarm systems
• Design lighting and lighting control systems
• Schedule and select electrical components and equipment
• Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations
• Construction administration
• Manage design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects from inception to completion
• Attend client and stakeholder meetings; interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors and clients in a professional manner
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers
• Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 7+ years of post‑education experience designing capital projects in power generation, transmission and distribution for utility, industrial or commercial scale
• Engineer license required (preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical infrastructure design
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD
• Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, energy codes, regulations, compliance practices and record‑keeping requirements
• Interest in innovative design, renewable energies and sustainable high‑performing buildings
• Strong technical computation and calculation skills involving electrical engineering principles, plans, specifications and regulations
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies
• Ability to work flexible schedules as required by project demands
• Occasional travel may be required

• Experience with new construction and high‑rise building design (mixed‑use, residential and office)
• PE license or LEED AP certification
• Knowledge of AGI
  32 and SKM
• 40‑hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred
• Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired

Expected salary (all locations): $92,800 – $165,440. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less based on experience, education and location.
