PLC Process Controls Engineer Job Summary
We are seeking a PLC Process Controls Engineer to be responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems and automation controls to ensure efficient operation of the production processes. This role involves troubleshooting, programming, and optimizing control systems to maximize production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality. The PLC Process Controls Engineer will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to enhance manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities- Design, program, and maintain PLC-based control systems and automation equipment for various production processes.
- Develop and implement control strategies to optimize manufacturing performance, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with PLCs, control systems, sensors, and instrumentation to minimize production interruptions.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation enhancements.
- Ensure all control systems comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Perform regular inspections, testing, and calibration of control systems and instrumentation to ensure reliable and accurate operation.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including PLC programs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel on control system operation and troubleshooting.
- Assist in the planning and execution of capital projects involving control system upgrades and new installations.
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in an Industrial Engineering/Manufacturing environment, preferably in the Pulp and Paper Industry
- High School Diploma or GED with formal advanced training and/or equivalent work experience will also be considered
