Head of Fulfillment Engineering

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Director of Engineering to join our leadership team at Etsy as the Engineering Lead for our Fulfillment Group. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for working within a fast-paced, creative environment and have the technical acumen to build a world-class fulfillment engineering team.

Etsy’s fulfillment portfolio today includes everything from tracking, labels, carrier integrations, calculated shipping, ML driven estimated delivery dates, etc. As the Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for driving innovation and investments to improve our fulfillment product experiences, while also maintaining the stability and performance of the existing fulfillment systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing the talent on your teams. You will support several Senior Engineering Managers across multiple initiatives, each with a different set of technical expertise and focus areas. There's a range of engineering experience, including staff engineers and machine learning specialists. You will lead your teams through influence, helping them to place the right bets, design the right systems, and collaborate across team boundaries to ensure that we’re delivering the best possible fulfillment experience for our buyers and sellers.

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP of Engineering. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice

• Lead and develop the fulfillment engineering team, driving projects and initiatives to improve the fulfillment product.

• Mentor and advocate for your team, while also working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure best possible fulfillment experience.

• Manage and communicate effectively across teams to ensure goals are met.

• Deliver a world-class fulfillment experience to our users.

• Develop strategies to optimize fulfillment product development and performance.

• Recruit and retain top engineering talent and manage team workloads.

• Be an active member of Etsy’s engineering leadership team, contributing in areas like engineering team culture or mentorship.
