Responsibilities
The Architect 1 position involves objective technical reviews of proposed projects, extensive document review of funded projects, project oversight through construction completion, and continued technical analysis during a project’s regulatory compliance period. Responsibilities also include review of funding requests for capital work on existing buildings that are occupied and operational.
- Technical assistance to help improve a proposed project's viability and cost effectiveness.
- Review of technical design and construction aspects of applications submitted for funding.
- Technical construction document review of projects selected for funding to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, Agency sustainability requirements, and Agency design requirements.
- Coordination with other Agency staff to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Oversight during construction to ensure that all design and construction requirements are met.
- Granting final approval to occupy completed housing projects.
- Technical oversight of completed projects during the multi-year regulatory period.
- Technical review of requests from HCR Asset Management for capital improvement projects for existing buildings.
- New York State Professional Architect’s License and current registration.
- For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this position may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
- Future conversion to competitive status without examination is anticipated.
- One year of permanent or contingent permanent service in an eligible title for transfer determined to be similar by Civil Service.
- Starting salary of $116,534 for brand new state service employees.
- Participation in any promotion examination for which the employee is qualified while serving permanently in a NY HELPS title.
