Role Summary
Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permitting Compliance Specialist to support the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). In this role you will oversee the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of compliance with federal, state, and local permits, regulations, and project‑specific environmental commitments.
Responsibilities- Support the management and tracking of all project permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements, including compliance with NEPA commitments.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Serve as primary liaison between project team and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to project teams, contractors, and consultants regarding permitting requirements.
- Support development and implementation of compliance monitoring protocols to align project activities with environmental commitments and permit conditions.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required.
- Maintain detailed records of all permitting and compliance activities.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, construction, environmental, and legal teams to integrate permitting requirements into project planning and execution.
- Support communication of permitting and compliance expectations to contractors and subcontractors.
- Proactively identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Work collaboratively with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups to address permitting and compliance concerns and support public outreach efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in environmental permitting, compliance management, or related roles on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, including NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act and other applicable statutes.
- Experience with permit applications, environmental reviews, and compliance monitoring processes.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance tracking software/tools.
- Experience managing permitting and compliance for large‑scale transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with permitting processes in New York and New Jersey.
- Salary range: $125,000 – $180,000.
