STV is seeking a Commercial Manager to join the Major Commercial Project team. Hired as a hybrid role (3 days a week in office) with locations in major national offices such as New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, etc.
Responsibilities- Administer all commercial and contractual matters for a specific project, minimizing commercial risk and maximizing opportunity.
- Identify and monitor potential risks, compile potential change orders and claims, and record and forecast costs to provide an accurate understanding of project performance.
- Ensure commercial processes and procedures are adhered to; develop a culture of commercial awareness across the project.
- Collaborate with the Project Director and Commercial Director to establish a commercial strategy with clear objectives.
- Review and respond to all correspondence and meeting records from contractors.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and manage them through to conclusion to minimize STV liability.
- Submit change orders in a timely manner in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Prepare sub-consultant agreements, coordinate scope with engineering staff, and administer agreements to ensure accurate liabilities and payments.
- Manage claims and ensure timely responses.
- Provide accurate profit and loss (P‑L) and cost-to-complete (CTC) reports in accordance with STV procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and develop staff responsibility for project sections.
- Fulfil any other task reasonably within the role’s scope.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with large-scale commercial builder contracting, preferably in the AEC market.
- Strong financial background and understanding of contractual law.
- Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
- Exposure to large engineering and construction projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure.
- Degree in construction, engineering or a related discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
