Job SummaryPSEG Long Island is looking for a Summer 2026 Technical Intern for the Distribution Operations Department. The position is onsite at the Hewlett location.
Job Responsibilities- Technology Utilization:
Familiarize yourself with the control center's technology infrastructure, including SCADA systems, energy management systems, and other relevant tools. Provide support in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. - Collaboration:
Work closely with experienced control center operators and engineers to gain insights into grid operations, system planning, and maintenance activities. - Continuous Learning:
Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of electric utility operations, grid management, and industry best practices. - Emergency Response:
Participate in emergency response exercises and actual events. Learn and apply protocols for managing and mitigating incidents, ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical system.
Required education/skills:
The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, graduating between December 2026 and May 2029 (students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless enrolling in a post‑graduate program in the fall term of 2026). PSEG Long Island recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
Candidates must have completed sophomore level coursework for consideration. A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required due to travel to various PSEG Long Island locations.
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Ability to commute to the designated work location as needed.
- Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided.
Hourly pay; no medical benefits. Payment for 40 hours per week during the summer internship. All PSEG Long Island internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions.

PSEG Long Island is not offering visa sponsorship for this position. Employees may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work extended hours beyond the regular schedule during storm/outage restoration efforts, and may be required to work on premise or in an alternate location as directed by the company.
