Overview
USL Technology Consulting Inc. (USLT) is seeking a highly skilled Energy Engineer with extensive experience in NYC Local Law 87, including ASHRAE Level II audits, ECM analysis and calculations, interactive effects modeling, RSMeans cost estimating, retro-commissioning (RCx), and RCM/OM&M measures. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in Design Builder/Energy Plus, One Click LCA, and NYC energy and sustainability frameworks (LEED v4/v4.1, LL87, LL97, NYCECC, NYStretch).
Key ResponsibilitiesEnergy Modeling & Analysis:
Develop and document whole-building energy models using Design Builder (Energy Plus). Perform ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G baseline vs. proposed modeling. Conduct parametric runs, sensitivity analyses, and system-level performance evaluations.NYC Local Law 87 – Deep Technical Work:
Lead ASHRAE Level II energy audits, including field verification, system assessments, and data collection. Perform ECM analysis, including savings calculations, interactive effects, and system-level impacts. Prepare RSMeans-based cost estimates for ECMs, including implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle costs. Develop ECM packages, including SIR, NPV, and payback calculations. Support and document retro-commissioning (RCx) measures, functional testing, and deficiency tracking. Identify and document RCM (Resource Conservation Measures) and OM&M measures aligned with LL87 requirements.
Prepare full LL87 audit reports, including narratives, tables, and compliance documentation.Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):
Build and manage whole-building LCA models using One Click LCA. Coordinate with architecture, structural, and BIM teams to integrate material quantities and EPDs. Support LEED MRc1 documentation and embodied-carbon reduction strategies.NYC Local Law 97 & Code Compliance:
Support LL97 emissions modeling and compliance pathways. Review envelope, HVAC, and lighting systems for NYCECC and NYStretch compliance.Sustainability & LEED Support:
Provide technical inputs for LEED EA credits (EAp2, EAc1, EAc2, EAc5, EAc6). Support MRc1 LCA documentation and coordination. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with LEED v4/v4.1 requirements.Design Coordination & Technical Review:
Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for energy-related impacts. Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and system optimization. Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations.Field & Construction Support:
Conduct site visits to verify installed conditions and equipment performance. Support measurement & verification (M&V) planning and data analysis.
