Who You Are You are an experienced Software Engineer looking to join our team in Owego, NY, supporting the full product lifecycle of avionics subsystems. You will play a key role in translating customer requirements into technical solutions, defining software/hardware interfaces, verifying requirements, and integrating safety-critical systems. This role supports the design and certification of embedded mission software for use in modern defense platforms.
The Work As a Software Engineer Staff, you'll be responsible for the development of embedded software for mission and communication systems. You'll collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop C/C++ and Python applications, integrate algorithms, and support verification and testing activities. You'll participate in team planning and meet your commitments to help the team deliver on technical performance, schedule, and cost.
Key Responsibilities:
-Embedded software development
-Integrate algorithms and features into C/C++ applications
-Design, develop, test, and debug safety- and mission-critical avionics software
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/hardware interfaces
-Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation
-Participate in certification activities to include requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Basic Qualifications:
• STEM or similar background.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field
• 5+ years related professional experience
• Experience using C, C++ or similar programming languages
• Experience with full software life-cycle development, processes and tools
• Experience with Git/Git Lab, Visual Studio, and Atlassian products
• Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading and executing on engineering intensive programs.
• Solid foundational understanding of Agile, Dev Sec Ops and Digital Transformation (Dx).
• Strong and proven understanding of engineering development processes.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Active Secret Level security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain. Desired

• Masters degree preferred
• Experience with agile software development lifecycle and work product releases
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
• Experience in Product Line development.
• Understanding of all phases of the engineering development process.
• Experience with engineering control board (ECB) and change control board (CCB) processes
• Experience with configuration management of engineering work products
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to partner across organizations to achieve results.
• Experience in a lead role on development programs.
