Job Title:
Electrical Engineer
Job Description
This Electrical Engineer role focuses on testing, loading, and validating firmware on electronic assemblies and systems within a hands-on manufacturing environment. You will work closely with a small, collaborative engineering team to support both custom and production-scale printed circuit board (PCB) programs. This position is ideal for an early- to mid-career engineer who wants to deepen their experience in firmware loading, electrical testing, and troubleshooting while contributing to fast-moving, cutting-edge electronics projects.
Responsibilities
* Test, load, and validate firmware on electronic assemblies and systems as the primary focus of the role.
* Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems and PCB assemblies.
* Use diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment to evaluate and verify hardware performance.
* Identify root causes of electrical and firmware-related failures and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
* Review, interpret, and create electrical schematics and blueprints to support design, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
* Support electrical design efforts for new and existing PCB-based products, including modifications and improvements.
* Apply a strong working knowledge of Ohm's law and electrical fundamentals when analyzing circuits and resolving issues.
* Collaborate with other engineers to modify, improve, and validate designs for both prototype and production hardware.
* Work with customer-provided designs as well as internally developed concepts to ensure they meet performance and quality requirements.
* Document test results, issues, corrective actions, and solutions in a clear and organized manner.
* Participate in engineering, assembly, testing, and build activities for electronics projects as needed to support expanding project demand.
Essential Skills
* Electrical engineering background with experience in testing, designing, and troubleshooting electrical equipment.
* Strong understanding and practical application of Ohm's law and core electrical principles.
* Hands-on experience with firmware testing and loading on electronic assemblies and systems.
* Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and blueprints.
* Experience with PCB design, PCB manufacturing, or electronics manufacturing environments.
* Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting of PCB assemblies and electronic systems.
* Familiarity with hardware validation and embedded systems concepts.
* Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and related electronic test equipment effectively.
* Experience in electronics test or production environments.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
* Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required.
* Experience working in PCB manufacturing or electronics assembly environments.
* Exposure to or interest in embedded systems and hardware validation processes.
* Comfort working in a fast-moving manufacturing setting where engineers support multiple phases of design, testing, and production.
* Interest in gaining deeper hands-on experience in firmware loading, electrical testing, and troubleshooting.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing setting with approximately 25-30 employees on site, offering a collaborative, hands-on environment where engineers participate in every phase of design, testing, and production. The organization supports electronics and PCB assembly programs, including both custom and production-scale projects, providing exposure to cutting-edge electrical engineering work in areas such as engineering, assembly, testing, and builds. The workday typically runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
You will spend significant time on the shop floor and at electronics benches using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other test equipment to support hardware validation and troubleshooting. The setting emphasizes long-term opportunities, contract-to-permanent pathways, and close collaboration with other engineers and…
