The Transmission System Operations Supervisor oversees the real‑time operation of the bulk electric system and manages the LIPA transmission system, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The holder must obtain and maintain a Transmission Operator NERC Certification or higher.
Job Responsibilities- Coordinate with NYISO to manage procedures during normal and emergency conditions, including voltage reduction, emergency load reduction, and load shedding.
- Direct prompt restoration of the LIPA transmission system during storms and other emergencies.
- Monitor and maintain the system within thermal and voltage limits and implement corrective action when necessary.
- Perform reliability analyses to determine impacts of scheduled and forced outages.
- Adjust power transfers across interfaces or paths to maintain system reliability.
- Attend NYISO Training Seminar twice per year.
- Maintain understanding of Operations Manuals, PSEGLI policies, NYISO procedures, NPCC, NERC, and other relevant standards.
- Serve as contact for all assigned compliance activities and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate the reviews and approvals specified in standard requirements, and provide required materials for submission.
- Work with SME managers and Lead SME Contributor on functional compliance activities.
- Four‑year engineering degree and at least 8 years of equivalent experience in system protection, substation maintenance, transmission planning, power systems engineering or operations.
- Two‑year degree and at least 10 years of equivalent experience in the same areas.
- Minimum of 10 equivalent years of experience in Transmission Operations.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team‑oriented, sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and provide leadership during critical events.
- Decisiveness under limited input and time constraints.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills (Excel, Word).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Flexibility to work multiple shifts and overtime as required.
- Applicants must pass an approved job aptitude test and a personal risk assessment, and comply with drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Candidate must meet DOE 10
