Job Description

The Environmental Engineering team at the Kesselring Site is seeking an experienced engineer to join the team! The person chosen for this position will learn the applicable KS environmental requirements and be responsible for implementation and reporting the KS SPDES Program. Specific responsibilities include oversight of environmental functional areas to ensure compliance to requirements, preparation of regulatory reports to outside regulatory agencies, preparation of internal reports, and performing assessments of environmental performance.

This role offers the opportunity to perform a wide range of radiological, environmental, safety, and health work to achieve compliance with the company's standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements. It includes assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure personnel and facility safety. Conducts trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials.

Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazardous potential. Develops and implements programs and record‑keeping systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experience. Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Maintains working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;

or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills
  • Broad experience in environmental program areas (such as RCRA, CWA/SPDES, CERCLA, TSCA, and CAA/Air Program)
  • Experience interfacing with external regulators (e.g., NYSDEC, NYSDOH, EPA)
  • Experience with PFAS and related regulatory considerations
  • Working knowledge of environmental investigation/remediation practices
  • Working knowledge of spill reporting and cleanup practices
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulations and proposed rule making actions
  • Experience reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Project management experience

Pay Range

$ - $ annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
