Job Description The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to support the design and contracting of non-radiological asbestos abatement projects in facilities at the Knolls Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY. Typical projects range from $100K to $2M and are part of a larger program to enhance the site and expand the professional workspace capacity as the business grows.

• Provides technical leadership for project planning and execution, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and alignment with engineering standards.
• Develops and reviews design documents, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates; coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones.
• Oversees subcontracted work, including asbestos abatement activities, ensuring contractors follow approved plans, applicable codes, and environmental/industrial hygiene requirements.
• Monitors field performance, resolves technical issues, evaluates risks, and ensures documentation, quality records, and post?work assessments meet Program standards.
• Supports Project Manager in communication of project status to stakeholders, mentors less?experienced engineers, and drives process improvements, lessons learned, and legacy?issue resolution. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience;

or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Preferred Skills
• Experience with utilizing construction contractors or performance of asbestos abatement.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, including environmental, industrial hygiene, and asbestos?abatement requirements.
• Effective project management skills, including scheduling, cost estimation, risk identification, and contractor oversight.
• Ability to interface and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Proven problem?solving and decision?making abilities in dynamic field environments.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to engineers and project teams. Pay Range $86,100.00 - $ annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
