Job Description An exciting career opportunity is available for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Construction Projects Engineering group, part of the Bettis Construction Department. This team is responsible for delivering projects from conception through closeout, including medium to large scale renovations, site infrastructure upgrades, and new construction of office buildings, laboratories, and test facilities. Typical project values range from $500K to more than $20M.
Electrical Project Engineers are highly valued members of our project execution teams, providing technical leadership, engineering rigor, and field support for a wide range of facilities projects across the Bettis Laboratory.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Serve as highly engaged owner representatives overseeing subcontracted architectural engineering firms and construction subcontractors.
• Develop, review, and define project technical specifications in close coordination with project sponsors and stakeholders.
• Investigate existing electrical systems to determine conditions, capacities, and integration points for new infrastructure.
• Evaluate how new systems will interface with or impact site wide electrical distribution, controls, and support systems.
• Develop and review engineering documents, including design drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and analyses.
• Conduct field walkdowns and provide engineering oversight during construction to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction managers, and contractors to resolve design and field issues.
• Support troubleshooting, technical issue resolution, and risk identification throughout design and construction.
• Promote safe execution of electrical work and adherence to all regulatory and organizational requirements. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience;
or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Preferred Skills
• Experience developing engineering documents (design drawings, specifications, engineering calculations).
• Knowledge of communication networks such as phone, data, and fire protection systems.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a project team environment.
• Ability to mentor less experienced Electrical Engineers within the group. Pay Range $95,700.00 - $ annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only.
