The Port Authority is seeking a highly experienced CAD / REVIT Designer to provide professional design support services for its Electrical Engineering Design Group. This role will support the planning, design, construction, and evaluation of critical infrastructure assets across various Port Authority facilities. The selected Designer will be responsible for preparing, modifying, and maintaining high-quality CAD and REVIT drawings for in-house Electrical and Electronics Engineering projects.
The position requires a senior‑level design professional with deep technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced engineering environment with aggressive project schedules. This position will also include specialized airfield lighting design support, including runway and taxiway lighting layouts, and may involve mentoring junior staff in CAD and REVIT fundamentals.
The CAD / REVIT Designer will provide design production and technical drafting support for Electrical and Electronics Engineering projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and revise CAD and REVIT drawings for electrical and electronics engineering design projects.
- Develop general arrangement drawings, electrical plans, utility drawings, and equipment layouts.
- Produce elevations, schedules, one‑line diagrams, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and detailed construction drawings.
- Support design work related to renovations of existing buildings, new buildings, structures, substations, rail systems, roadway lighting, ductbank and manhole systems, and airfield lighting systems.
- Develop runway and taxiway airfield lighting layouts.
- Prepare coordinate tables and layouts for common airfield ground lighting systems with minimal oversight.
- Interpret and incorporate engineer‑provided design comments into drawing packages.
- Assist with site surveys to document existing conditions, as needed.
- Support adherence to applicable CAD, BIM, and Port Authority design standards.
- Help train and mentor junior staff in CAD and REVIT workflows, standards, and best practices.
- Provide CAD and REVIT support to the Structural Engineering Group on an as‑needed basis at the discretion of the Port Authority.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all drawing deliverables.
- Support timely delivery of design packages under demanding schedules.
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Applied Science, Computer-Aided Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience producing high‑quality CAD and REVIT drawings for Electrical and Electronics Engineering contracts.
- Demonstrated experience supporting design work for:
- Renovations to existing buildings
- New buildings and structures
- Electrical substations
- Roadway lighting
- Ductbank and manhole systems
- Taxiway and runway airfield lighting
- Working knowledge of FAA Advisory Circular AC 150/5340‑30

- Ability to prepare coordinate tables with minimal oversight.
- Proven ability to deliver complex design projects on aggressive schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and implement technical design comments from engineers.
- Experience preparing CAD and REVIT drawings for Structural Engineering construction contracts.
- Familiarity with Port Authority CAD and BIM Standards.
- Experience assisting with field surveys and existing‑condition documentation.
- Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to junior CAD / REVIT staff.
- Experience working with confidential and/or privileged documents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple drawing assignments simultaneously.
- A quality‑focused approach to design documentation and deliverable review.
