Aerodynamics Engineer

Description

Perform compressor aerodynamic and thermodynamic calculations for centrifugal compressor designs using Atlas Copco's prescribed tools and procedures. Support the evaluation of complex aerodynamic designs for Production, R&D, and Aftermarket. Troubleshoot test and field issues related to compressor aerodynamics and operation.

- Lead the aerodynamic design and optimization of impellers, diffusers, volutes, and guide vanes for production and R&D projects - Perform advanced CFD simulations to predict compressor performance, stability, and loss mechanisms - Correlate analytical and CFD predictions with test data and field performance - Support compressor factory testing and site acceptance, including test planning and data interpretation - Lead technical discussions with customers related to aerodynamic performance and compressor operation - Mentor other engineers in thermodynamics, aerodynamic performance and compressor operation - Produce engineering documentation for aerodynamic designs of the compressor - Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Atlas Copco Gas and Process products and applications - Some travel including field work, may be necessary - Comply with safety rules, regulations and OSHA requirements

Skills & Qualifications

Product Design and Testing Program usage:
Fluent, Star-Com+, CFX (if they don't have Ansys or OpenFOAM) Preferably experience from Automotive, Power Generation, Nuclear/Military, or Gas & Process industries Open to either a BS/MS or PhD in Engineering with 4-5 years of experience or 8-10 years without a degree - degree would preferably be in either Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering. Needs to have centrifugal compressor aerodynamics, thermodynamics and compressor operation experience.

Familiarity of automation and optimization of aerodynamic designs
