We are currently seeking a Senior Fire Engineer based out of our New York or DC office. In this role, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, and clients to deliver innovative fire protection and life safety solutions across a diverse portfolio of commercial, government, institutional, and mission‑critical projects. You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary Fire Engineering team, leading fire‑protection engineering services from concept through project delivery.
Your responsibilities will include managing projects, mentoring junior engineers, supporting business development, and fostering a collaborative high‑performing team environment.
- Provide fire protection consulting engineering services to architects, developers, owners, government and insurers.
- Consult on code requirements and work with ICC (IBC, IFC, IMC).
- Apply suppressed and detection design skills, and develop performance‑based strategies and code alternates.
- Conduct fire‑hazard calculations and modeling; present design approaches to code officials.
- Manage multiple projects: planning, staffing, budgeting, monitoring, and delivery.
- Develop client relationships, pursue new business opportunities, and draft proposals.
- Contribute to research and development activities.
- Use relevant software – Office suite, FDS, AutoCAD/ Revit.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in fire protection engineering.
- Strong communication, planning, organization, and proactive mindset.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with code consulting, ICC languages, and performance‑based design.
- Experience presenting to code officials.
