This once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity allows you to contribute to a landmark project poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation, and environmental sustainability. The Hudson Tunnel Project is the busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, improving capacity, reliability, and resiliency for 800,000 daily passengers traveling from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England.

It is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

As the Senior Heavy Civil Construction Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project, aligning with our client’s purpose to create responsible places that bring transformative impact to people, communities, and societies.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to identify scope, quantities, and specifications for tunnel construction activities.
  • Conduct quantity take‑offs, material pricing, labor cost estimation, and subcontractor quote analysis to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to understand project requirements, technical aspects, and scheduling constraints that may impact cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, bid proposals, and cost reports for submission to clients, stakeholders, and internal decision‑makers.
  • Update and maintain a cost tracking system to monitor project expenditures, track budget deviations, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Participate in value‑engineering exercises, risk assessments, and cost‑saving initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an estimator, cost estimator, or quantity surveyor in tunnel construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software, construction cost databases, and MS Excel for detailed analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor costs specific to tunnelling and underground construction.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in Federal Transit Agency projects.
  • Familiarity with transit agencies such as PANYNJ, NJT, MTA, LIRR, and Amtrak.
  • Experience delivering programs or portfolios of significant value greater than $1 billion is a significant advantage.
Benefits
  • Full‑time position with competitive compensation.
  • Opportunity to work in a client‑facing role delivering significant and impactful capital projects.
  • Collaborative and supportive work environment with opportunities for career growth.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, disability insurance, and 401(k).
