Job Description The Kesselring Site Emergency Preparedness (EP) unit is seeking an experienced Environmental, Safety and Health Compliance Engineer to join the team! This position will be responsible for non-radiological hazards portion of the business and as such, EP is looking for someone that has:
Self-Motivation and Proactive Engagement: A successful candidate should be self-driven and motivated to take initiative. This includes independently engaging stakeholders, leading meetings, and collaborating in team environments to manage and carry out large-scale projects, such as the SPR (State Preparedness Report) and THIRA (Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment). Strong Organizational and Multitasking
Skills:
The ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously is essential. The role involves working on overlapping responsibilities, such as finalizing the previous year's SPR while developing the current year's THIRA. Additional tasks include planning and overseeing an annual exercise and managing chemical safety program requirements in compliance with DOE Order 151.1D. Staying organized and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data across these efforts are critical.
Technical Writing and Communication Expertise:
The candidate should excel in both written and verbal communication. They will be responsible for ensuring site compliance with DOE Order 151.1D, which includes gathering detailed information from stakeholders, drafting comprehensive yet clear documentation, and presenting plans and progress to senior leadership and Emergency Response Organizations (ERO). Developing actionable strategies for each hazard in alignment with 151.1D requirements is also a key part of this role Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience;
or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently an Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
