  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work to develop accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and piping in support of geothermal and energy infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate pricing and scope alignment with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors, specialty vendors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and subcontractor audits as needed. Estimated travel requirement: up to 25%.
  • Leverage HVAC, plumbing, or piping background to support onboarding into geothermal‑related work.

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for piping, heat pumps, mechanical equipment, and related components.
  • Analyze historical cost data and market conditions to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Identify risks, value‑engineering opportunities, and constructability considerations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure smooth handoff from estimate to execution.
  • Maintain estimating databases, templates, and cost libraries.
  • Assist with post‑bid reviews and cost variance analysis.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7+ years of mechanical estimating experience, preferably in geothermal or HVAC.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, and HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, CAD drawings, and Microsoft Excel.
