Field Service Technician - Essex

Field Service Technician (Essex County, NY)

• Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues.
• Provide continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software‑driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and broadband systems.
• Maintain, test, and document complex communications systems.
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of RF systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
• Demonstrate knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.

• 2‑year associate degree in Electronics or IT (preferred) or equivalent on‑the‑job experience.
• Security+, CompTIA, or related certification highly desirable.
• Proficiency in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
• Knowledge of wired communications systems such as LAN and WAN.
• Experience with logging/recording systems, RF interfaces, and wired/wireless communication systems.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in Google Suite, MSWord, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Strong self‑management and interpersonal skills for working closely with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Self‑motivated and capable of performing duties at a distance from direct supervision.
• Ability to solve customer problems quickly in stressful situations.

• Must be able to obtain background clearance required by government customers.
• Must reside in northern New York or be willing to commute to Essex County, New York.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; employer work‑permit sponsorship not available.
• Current, valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.
• Willing to travel 25‑50% of the time as needed; approximately 30% of travel commutes.
• Position may involve work in high‑security areas governed by the U.S. Department of Justice CJIS Security Policy and requires a stringent fingerprint background check.

• Base salary range: $70,000 – $80,000
