Stationary Engineer Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Operating chillers, pumps, and fan coil units.
  • Performing various maintenance duties and handling service requests requiring technical labor skills.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing condensate pumps, condensate tanks, sump pumps, sewage ejectors, along with their related valves and piping.
  • Operating, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, and deionized water production trains.
  • Under supervisor’s direction, maintaining equipment like heat exchangers, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and hot water systems.
  • Overhauling, disassembling, and reassembling pumps including feed water, transfer, condensate, vacuum, and chemical pumps.
  • Maintaining heaters, chillers, pumps, and fan coil units.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing air compressors, auxiliaries, valves, and piping.
  • Managing pumps, pump prime movers, storage facilities, valves, and piping related to the building, reservoirs, and meter valve pits.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration machinery, controls, and piping associated with air conditioning, ice machines, and cold rooms.
  • Maintaining cooling towers, fans, gear reducers, main line pumps, and related appurtenances.
  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing compressed air systems, pneumatic controls, and piping for HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Managing Building Management System (BMS) and HVAC controls related to heating, ventilating, and refrigeration systems.
  • Minimum Requirement: Must have FDNY Q-01 Refrigeration System Operating Engineer Certificate.
