What We’re Looking For
At HNTB, you will create a meaningful career by building communities across the country. This position is responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will work closely with the project manager to conduct research, development, calculations, design, and delivery, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity.
You will also assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs, mentor junior staff, and contribute to successful delivery of diverse projects for HNTB’s clients.
- Perform condition inspection of bridges.
- Complete assigned work within the schedule and required hours.
- Assist in the development of project specifications.
- Develop discipline‑specific engineering deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
- Coordinate and enhance project team productivity.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
- Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
- Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific deliverables.
- Assist with scheduling, hours, and workload distribution within the discipline.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- NY PE license.
- 5 years of bridge inspection and/or bridge design experience.
- OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 preferred).
- Experience with NHI Safety Inspection of in‑service bridges.
- Physically fit and able to work on site.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience inspecting bridges for NYSDOT, TBTA, PANYNJ (plus).
- Based in NYC with possible work in Long Island NYSDOT Region 10.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience.
- PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Optimizing work processes for continuous improvement.
- Independently progressing the majority of designs and tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Micro Station, and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
- Excellent time management, proactive forecasting, and communication regarding project development needs.
Location:
New York, NY.
Visa sponsorship is available for this position.
Pay Range: $83,373.48 – $ (approximate). Compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, skills, and actual work location.
