Compensation Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance,support, and knowledge transfer,regarding the maintenance,testing,andtroubleshootingofnumerous

FireDetection Systems, Gas Detection,andFire Suppression Systems  located throughout NYCTlocations.

Responsibilitiesalsoincludecritical systemissueresolution,performingdiagnostics,andactingasliaison withvarioussupportandmaterial vendors;reviewing specifications,new installations,upgrades, design drawings, fieldinspections, surveys, and conducting trainingforin-house operations staff.

This position willinteractwith

Construction Managers andsupportgroupsthroughout theconstructionprocess toensurethese systemsareinstalledandmaintainableinaccordancetoapplicableNYCTPolicies,NFPA,State,andLocal

Codes.

Education and Experience
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, fire safety, environmental or occupational safety, ergonomics, statistics, mathematics, chemical, physical or biological sciences, industrial hygiene, safety management, or a related field; plus at least two years of satisfactory full-time experience in professional system safety-related work; or
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university in a field listed in “1” above; plus four years of satisfactory, full-time experience in professional system safety-related work; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus six years of satisfactory, full-time professional system safety-related work; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to that listed in “1”,”2” or “3” above. A master's degree in any of the fields indicated above may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Special Notes
  • To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the qualification requirements, either one year served in the Transit Authority at Assignment Level I or one additional year performing duties described in "1" above.
  • To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the qualification requirements, either one year served in the Transit Authority at Assignment Level II or two additional years performing duties described in "1" above.
  • To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must have, after meeting the qualification requirements, either one year served in the Transit Authority at Assignment Level III or three additional years performing duties described in "1" above, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory position.
  • Desired Skills
    • Experience in life safety system design, plan review, and commissioning .
    • Indepth knowledge ofthe

      Building andFireCodes of the State of New York, NYC Fire Prevention Code, NYCFire Department Rules and Regulations, and National Fire Protection Association Standards .
    • NYS Code Enforcement Certification , NICET I, II, III, or IV Certification
    • Strong Analytical, Technical, and Communications skills
