Location: New York
We have an immediate opening for a Mid-Level Asbestos Inspector/Investigator in our NYC office. The firm operates with a flexible schedule that understands the needs of our clients and their deadlines. The candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated environmental department team supporting clients involved in building renovation and demolition projects throughout downstate New York. Established clients include various city, state and federal agencies for projects at colleges, universities, education, and health facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform inspections for asbestos-containing materials and prepare reports based on findings.
- Interpret NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56, and other applicable regulations.
- Work independently and as a team player.
- Demonstrate initiative to problem‑solve.
- Hold current NYC DEP asbestos investigator and NYS DOL asbestos inspector certifications. Candidates with a NYS DOL asbestos inspector certification who can obtain the NYC DEP asbestos investigator certification within six months of hire may be considered.
- B.S. degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Additional certifications such as Project Monitor, Project Designer, EPA Lead Inspector, Risk Assessor, or 40‑Hour HAZWOPER are a plus.
- At least two years of experience in the building hazmat inspection field.
- Experience filing ACP forms with NYC DEP ARTS.
- Experience working with NYC agencies (e.g., Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, MTA).
- Familiarity with asbestos federal, state, and local regulations, specifically NYS ICR 56 and NYC DEP Title 15, Chapter 1 of the Rules of the City of New York.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Self‑motivated, reliable, detail‑oriented, and capable of exercising sound judgment.
- Proficiency with standard word processing and spreadsheet programs. Possession of a vehicle for travel within the five boroughs of NYC and the Hudson Valley area.
- $75,000 – $95,000 per year.
