PositionConstruction Inspector/Field Engineer
LocationNew York office within the Construction Management Practice. The role may require travel or relocation to other areas.
Responsibilities- Assist inspectors, senior inspectors, and Resident Engineers with observing and documenting construction activities.
- Support the preparation of daily inspection reports, including labor, equipment, and materials tracking.
- Observe construction work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Assist with reviewing contractor documentation such as submittals and field reports.
- Monitor materials delivered to the site and support verification of quantities and quality.
- Help maintain project documentation using internal and client systems.
- Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with safety policies and procedures.
- Use Agency/Client Project Information Management System (PIMS) and/or other electronic systems for preparing Inspection Reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 0 – 5 years of recent experience in heavy construction, inspecting tunnels or large complex engineering/construction projects.
- Preference for candidates with experience on at least one heavy civil or tunnel project, including trenchless tunneling experience.
- Knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator; meet physical demands such as walking, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs., climbing ladders, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook; preferred knowledge of Visio, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
