Position SummaryWe are seeking a qualified Environmental Health & Safety Officer (EHSO) to support mechanical and infrastructure construction projects throughout the NYC area. This role is responsible for ensuring all field activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contract requirements and regulatory standards.
As the on-site safety authority, you will oversee daily operations, enforce EHS protocols, and maintain accurate documentation to support both compliance and project performance.
Key Responsibilities- Field Oversight: Conduct daily site inspections to ensure contractor compliance with approved plans, safety regulations, and technical specifications.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed Daily Inspection Reports (DIRs), including workforce, work performed, and quantities for payment verification.
- Financial Oversight: Review and maintain accurate Time & Material (T&M) records to ensure cost transparency and accountability.
- Project Tracking: Utilize e-Builder or similar systems to monitor progress, maintain records, and support project controls.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between project owners, contractors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce site-specific safety requirements, environmental regulations, and EHS protocols to promote a zero-incident culture.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in environmental health and safety compliance. NYC DEP/BEDC project experience strongly preferred.
- Professional Certification (Required): Must hold at least one: CSP, CIH, or CHST.
- Required Training & Credentials:
- OSHA 30-Hour (completed within the last 5 years)
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- NYC DOB 4-Hour Supported Scaffold
- BEDC EHS Standards & Spills Training
- Confined Space Entry
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety)
- DOT Hazardous Waste Manifest
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
- Technical
Skills:
Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities. Solid understanding of NYC construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance standards.
