The NYC Department of Design & Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks a Design Reviewer (Electrical). The selected candidate will perform a comprehensive review of design and/or constructability documents from consultant engineering services and in‑house design for DDC’s capital construction program.
The Design Reviewer will be responsible for:
- Project scoping and design/constructability review of consultant drawings and specifications (utilizing Blue‑Beam)
- Site inspections and reports
- Ad hoc technical investigations and condition surveys
- In‑house design (utilizing AutoCAD and BIM)
- Lighting calculations and provision of technical expertise and support services for client‑agency projects
- Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and technical staff
All candidates must be currently authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC does not support or sponsor any visa application or extension.
Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service.
QualificationsOne year of full‑time satisfactory experience supervising employees performing project management work (planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting) on engineering, architectural, landscape architectural, or construction projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have:
- Either a baccalaureate degree in an acceptable discipline and at least one year of full‑time project management experience; or
- A four‑year high school diploma (or equivalent) plus five years of experience as described above; or
- Combination of education and experience totaling equivalent to five years of experience.
An additional year of experience in a supervisory capacity or as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project is required for Assignment Level II. An additional two years of such experience is required for Assignment Level III.
