About Montauk Capital
Montauk Capital builds and backs companies at the forefront of the Electron Economy, the generational shift towards electrified, intelligent technologies reshaping industries and driving unprecedented demand for energy. Our team combines deep investing acumen with decades of operating experience to give founders the strategic clarity and hands-on support that accelerates the building of enduring companies of consequence.
About Perimeter Compute
Co-founded by Montauk Capital, Perimeter Compute is a pre-seed venture specialized in modular, metro-edge AI capabilities. By leveraging existing infrastructure for inference deployment, Perimeter provides low-latency, SLA-guaranteed performance across diverse GPU SKUs and colocation environments. Our technology intelligently routes traffic based on demand proximity and real-world network limitations, bypassing the heavy power and infrastructure requirements of traditional hyperscalers. Currently initiating operations with pilot nodes in NYC, we are executing a city-by-city expansion strategy with plans for a broader multi-metro rollout.
About the Role
This is a highly operational and engineering-focused role that tactically owns the physical preparation, build-out, and technical retrofitting of sites to host our AI infrastructure. You will serve as the dedicated technical expert, bridging Perimeter's requirements with the capabilities of commercial facilities. You will conduct hands-on site evaluations, develop clear technical specifications for retrofitting spaces (specifically mechanical rooms for liquid-cooled micro data centers), and provide first-hand, reliable estimates on the cost and timing of this preparatory work.
You will partner directly with building owners, asset managers, and their preferred contractors to execute the build-out and deployment of our solution, ensuring rapid, scalable, and technically compliant integration across our growing network.
What You’ll Do:
Site Technical Ownership & Estimation
Conduct deep, tactical site evaluations, specifically assessing mechanical room capacity, existing condenser water loops, and electrical systems for hosting liquid-cooled AI micro data centers.
Provide first-hand, granular cost and timing estimates for all necessary site upgrades, mechanical/electrical retrofits, and infrastructure gaps to inform partner prioritization and accelerate the deployment pipeline.
Develop and continuously refine Perimeter’s technical specifications (our "spec") to simplify interpretation and maximize execution efficiency by third-party and building-preferred contractors.
Build-Out and Contractor Management
Partner directly with landlords, property management teams, and their appointed contractors (MEP, electrical outfits) to manage the build-out and physically integrate our solution.
Serve as the expert resource for contractors, answering technical questions and managing the quality assurance of all build-out work against Perimeter’s refined spec.
Coordinate and manage access for specialized mobile support/technical field support for ongoing maintenance and upkeep of deployed units.
Facilities and Infrastructure Integration
Ensure compliant physical and energy integration of Perimeter's modular infrastructure within the building's facilities and energy systems.
Resolve tactical deployment blockers including network and room readiness, coordinating access, facilities issues, power concerns, and managing waste heat coordination.
Maintain expertise on heat reclamation and best practices for preparing sites to unlock the full energy-efficiency advantages within a building.
What You’ll Bring:
Extensive, hands-on experience managing and executing large-scale building retrofits, critical infrastructure projects, or data center/telecom deployments.
Proven ability to conduct site evaluations and provide reliable, first-hand cost and timing estimates for complex MEP, power, cooling, and network upgrades.
Deep technical understanding of mechanical/electrical systems (MEP), liquid cooling, condenser water loops, and waste-heat infrastructure within commercial…
