Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeler (Hybrid) – Stormwater, Drainage, Floodplain Modeling
We are hiring an experienced Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeler to support water resources, stormwater, drainage, and floodplain projects. This role is ideal for candidates with strong modeling skills using HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), SWMM, or similar hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software. This is a hybrid position (3 days in office) with a well‑established company known for its strong engineering teams and nationwide project portfolio.
Job Responsibilities- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater, drainage, watershed, and floodplain studies.
- Develop, run, and calibrate models using HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), SWMM, or equivalent tools.
- Analyze rainfall/runoff, hydraulic capacity, flood impacts, and system performance under different scenarios.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, exhibits, and modeling documentation for design and permitting.
- Support planning and design efforts for infrastructure, transportation, and water resources projects.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project teams to incorporate modeling results into project designs.
- Assist with agency coordination and responses to regulatory comments.
- Maintain organized model files following QA/QC requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related water‑resources discipline.
- 5 years of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience (stormwater, drainage, floodplain, watershed).
- Proficiency with HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), SWMM, or similar modeling software.
- Experience preparing technical analyses, modeling reports, and permit documentation.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal water resource regulations.
- Experience with Civil 3D, CAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- EIT or PE certification is a plus.
- Experience in civil design, grading, drainage design, stormwater management, or site development.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay: $35.00 – $55.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
