Position Description
Legrand has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Team in Farmingdale, NY
. The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and maintains manufacturing processes to support existing and new products. The role supports team‑based process improvement efforts to ensure manufacturing processes meet requirements for capability, safety, quality, customer service, and reliability.
What Will You Do?
- Design, improve, maintain, and implement manufacturing processes based on input from manufacturing leadership, maintenance activities, operators, and direct observation.
- Plan and define sequences of operations to fabricate and assemble parts and products, including development of equipment layouts, material flow, and workspace organization to improve efficiency.
- Train maintenance and production personnel on new and revised process procedures to support consistent and repeatable production.
- Maintain process documentation in accordance with established standards.
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all processes and equipment.
- Develop manufacturing process plans to meet all manufacturing requirements for safety, ergonomics, process capability, quality and cost.
- Present process concepts, implement approved solutions, and manage work to schedule and budget expectations.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing activities, to improve safety, cost, ergonomics, quality, and process capability.
- Monitor processes for compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through audits and process controls.
- Communicate findings, take corrective actions and design/implement engineered solutions to maintain compliance.
- Monitor production quality and ensure processes consistently meet required quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production‑related engineering issues.
- Provide leadership and guidance to manufacturing engineering and production team members on issues related to product manufacturability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with relevant experience is required.
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Metal fabrication experience is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written are required.
- Requires strong organizational and time‑management skills, close attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified workload.
- Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e‑mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web‑based resources efficiently and effectively.
- Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team‑based environment.
- Promotes an environment that encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all business partners.
- Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
- Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
- Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
- Open to minimal travel as needed – possibly for trade shows, training or visiting suppliers.
Salary and Benefits: $90,000 - $110,000
