About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Power Engineer to support major generation and power systems engineering projects within a large utility environment. This role will focus on electrical system analysis, equipment specification, protective relaying, and full lifecycle project execution supporting steam, gas, and heavy industrial generation facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform power systems studies including:
- Load flow analysis
- Arc flash analysis
- Protective relay coordination
- Develop and maintain one-line diagrams and electrical system models
- Size and specify electrical equipment including:
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- Cables
- Protective relays
- Support generator protection and reliability compliance programs
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, and technical submittals
- Develop technical specifications and procurement documentation
- Manage engineering projects from design through commissioning
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, construction, and external vendors
- Provide field engineering support at active generation facilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in power systems or utility electrical engineering
- Strong experience with:
- ETAP, SKM, Easy Power, or similar software
- Protective relaying and coordination
- Medium and low voltage distribution systems
- Utility or industrial generation facilities
- Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, ANSI, NFPA, and NERC standards
- Experience supporting utility capital projects and engineering design packages
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Power generation or steam/gas plant experience
- Medium-voltage switch gear design and commissioning
- NERC compliance experience
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and field testing activities
