What You’ll Do:
- Research data sources, gather data, and conduct analysis of data for use in projects.
- Identify planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
- Investigate, evaluate, and provide recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet project needs.
- Lead aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
- Participate in client meetings and interactions.
- Lead preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
- Conduct or direct research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulate recommendations.
- Participate in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation projects.
- Write major sections of and lead production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Participate in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field with 4 years related professional experience, or Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in professional demand modeling or traffic simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, AIMSUN); familiarity with pedestrian simulation tools is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and VBA; working knowledge of programming languages such as Python and/or R for data analysis and modeling is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in transit planning and analysis, and/or the design and evaluation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
- Ability to synthesize data and draft clear, well-structured reports, including compiling and integrating contributions from multiple sources to support findings and recommendations.
- Experience contributing to and delivering presentations, effectively communicating technical analyses and insights to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP).
Salary range for New York: $74,417.85 – $ (good‑faith estimate; actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and location).
